Nebraska State Education Licensing Requirements:

See https://www.education.ne.gov/tcert/pdfs/Reciprocity.pdf for reciprocity information: Nebraska does not have reciprocity with other states, meaning an out-of-state certificate does not transfer to Nebraska. All candidates must meet specific Nebraska academic and state requirements. Although the out-of-state certificate does not transfer by itself, the certificate and other documents provided by the candidate are used to judge what documents will be required for a Nebraska certificate. Nebraska does not recognize certificates or endorsements earned through testing only or Alternative Preparation Programs that are not state approved.

See https://cdn.education.ne.gov/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/TCERT-Manual.pdf for the certification manual.

The NE Teacher Certification application can be found at https://dc2.education.ne.gov/tcertlf/tcert_newapp.dll/EXEC. All applicants must have completed a baccalaureate degree, a Teacher Education Program at a state-approved college or university, the Human Relations Training Requirement, the Special Education Training Requirement, the CORE Test, the Content and Assessment Test, and have recent college credits or employment experience within the last five years to qualify for a Regular Teaching Certificate.

Applicants for a certificate or permit valid in all schools, public and nonpublic, shall pay a $55 (fifty-five) fee.

If you have not held continuous residence in Nebraska for the past immediate five years, you are required to submit fingerprints.

Please visit http://www.education.ne.gov/tcert for more information. The Nebraska Department of Education may be contacted at 402.471.0739 or by email at [email protected] for certificate questions. It is highly recommended that you contact this office to confirm this information.

Please note that requirements are subject to change. You may find more licensing information for each state at https://www.ed.gov.

SRU Teacher Candidates MAY NOT use their PA certifications to apply for comparable certifications in this state, but DEPENDING ON THIS STATE’S DEPT. OF ED’S EVALUATION AND POSSIBLE

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS, may be able to use some SRU experiences towards cert. See above.
