West Virginia State Education Licensing Requirements:

Successful completion of an out-of-state approved teacher education program from an accredited higher education institution (Slippery Rock University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education) may apply for a temporary teaching certificate which is valid for a period of one year and may not be renewed.

An Initial Professional Teaching Certificate may be received if the above is true and the applicant has passed the appropriate tests (Core Academic Skills for Educators, Praxis II – Content Specialization Test(s), and the Principles of Learning and Teaching Praxis Test. This certificate is valid for three years.
