Ohio State Education Licensing Requirements:

To obtain a new license, educators will use an application for the credential through the Ohio Department of Education’s Connected Ohio Records system or ODE.CORE. For out-of-state applicants, you may apply online by setting up a SAFE account at https://safe.ode.state.oh.us/portal.

You will also need to provide verification of completed out-of-state licensure exams, verification of experience, official transcripts. Please see https://education.ohio.gov/Topics/Teaching/Licensure/Out-of-State-Licensure for details.

Background checks by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) and FBI are required for initial licensure (http://education.ohio.gov/Topics/Teaching/Licensure/Additional-Information/Background-Check- FAQs).
