Oklahoma State Education Licensing Requirements:

If you have completed an approved program from another state and did not get certified in that area, please have the Verification of State-Approved Teacher Education Program from Non-Oklahoma College/University form filled out by the proper officials (found at http://sde.ok.gov/sde/sites/ok.gov.sde/files/documents/files/StateApproved.pdf). If Oklahoma has a comparable certification area you may be able to obtain the equivalent Oklahoma certification area by passing the appropriate Oklahoma examination(s). Applications for Oklahoma School Standard Teaching Certificate must be accompanied by a $50 processing fee. See http://sde.ok.gov/sde/traditional-path-oklahoma-teacher- certification for full details.

If an applicant holds a full out-of-state certificate, he or she must meet the standards set by the State Board of Education. Anything less than full certification will require review by Teacher Certification. An application for OK School Standard Teaching Certificate (found at http://sde.ok.gov/sde/sites/ok.gov.sde/files/documents/files/OSDE_App_for_OK_School_Certification.pdf) must be submitted with official transcripts, proof of teaching, copies of all teaching certificates, a $50 processing fee, and fingerprint cards/criminal history record search ($53.94 fee). Please visit http://sde.ok.gov/sde/traditional-path-oklahoma-teacher-certification for details.

Background checks are a necessary component for Oklahoma educators, district personnel and school support staff. These background checks are based on fingerprint checks processed through the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and the FBI. You must perform the $53.94 option to obtain certification prints. Please visit http://sde.ok.gov/sde/background-check-teaching-certificate for details.
